Commission!! :)

Fifteen months ago, a few months before Jeremy started the master's program he is in, he got his packet in to be an officer in the Chaplain Candidate Program. Usually, it should take about 3-9 months for the packet to go through and to be commissioned as an officer. For different reasons the process took 15 months!! A few times it got clear to QC and then got kicked back, mostly because stuff kept going out of date because they were taking so long, it got really frustrating and we got to the point where we decided to just leave it in God's hands, if he wanted Jeremy in the CCP He would help make it happen. Finally, in April, Jeremy's packet went through and they passed it. FEDREC boards were scheduled for this last Wednesday, May 8th. We prayed that it would go smoothly and he would pass those as well, and he did!! We had a ceremony where some of our friends and supporters came to see Jeremy be sworn in, I posted pictures below, and then we served everyone who came doughnuts and milk and chatted for awhile. After, we went to lunch at Olive Garden with Steve to celebrate some more and catch up. I am so proud of Jeremy for all of his hard work, his continuing hard work, and seeing him achieve this goal we have been working toward for over two years. You only commission once, lol. Now that we've reached this step, we can continue moving forward and we are so grateful. :)

Those who came to support: Our family (of course), LTC Steve Jarvis, retired COL Vance Theodore (Jeremy's advisor at BYU over the Chaplain program), LTC Gene Whitmore (who has been absolutely awesome through this process), SPC Delbert Young and his wife, 2LT Anthony Moya (another friend from BYU), LTC Williams and his wife (LTC Williams was Jeremy's 6th grade teacher and now works at Draper headquarters, where the ceremony was held), COL Gerald White (State Chaplain for Utah, and Jeremy's now supervisor), and SFC Jeremy Dimond (from the officer recruiting branch who helped Jeremy get his paperwork through).

Jeremy asked his Dad to swear him in, which his Dad was very honored to do. :)

Jeremy asked me to remove his Staff Sergeant patch and "punch" his 2LT patch on. I am so grateful he thought to give me that honor, it was a special moment after the hard work we've put in to get here together. :)

I ripped off the patch and put the 2LT patch on, and instead of punching him just did a couple of hard pats, lol. He stepped back like I was that strong, but I think he was just being nice, lolol.
