I remember so perfectly the moment I held him to my chest, so exhausted and crying after giving birth to him, but so grateful to have him here. He was born in the very early morning, and I remember after our midwives had left and everyone had gotten into bed, I just held him swaddled in a blanket in my arms and cried because I was so grateful for him and that he was in my arms and safe. I learned quickly that just holding him helped me feel calm, so I carried him everywhere as long as I could. He loved it, too. :) He still has that calming sense about him, it's a little harder to feel sometimes in all his 5 year old energy and loudness, haha, but it's there. He is so sweet, so loving, and sometimes he acts so mature for his age that it astounds me. Over the last several months he has learned to love drawing and pretending to write messages and letters, he makes me "presents" using Grandma's printer paper and tape and he puts his favorite toys or LEGO creations inside and gives them to me to open with the sweetest little happy grin on his face. He has even started building LEGO creations, taking them apart, putting them in Ziplock bags, and then putting those in his presents as "LEGO sets." I open them and then he builds them for me. I love his creativity. He has always had a thing about numbers and letters, he used to call himself K37, for like a year, haha. This last year he has been learning to read and write and he started writing squiggly lines across paper to be messages, he also started making "books" out of more of Grandma's printer paper and tape. He draws pictures on the pages and "words" and then tapes the pages together like a book and reads them to me. He really loves to draw and use tape, and he loves LEGO's, I would say those are his favorite things! haha. He is hilarious, super creative, absolutely adorable, a cuddle bug, and is such a good example to our family.
He is so handsome.
- He is about 4'3" and weighs about 45 pounds.
- He goes to bed at about 7:30, but doesn't fall asleep until between 8-830, and he sleeps until around 6 AM.
- His nicknames are Mr. Benz, Benz, and Tasty (still, haha).
- He is super tall, so he wears a size 6-7, but they fit loose because he's skinny!
- He runs really fast and did excellent playing soccer for the first time this spring.
- He just as competitive as his brothers, which keeps things really...exciting. To say the least. haha!
- He made up the term "cooches" which means to scratch his belly, his back, or his arms. Now everyone uses it! He also started this heart and "boop" thing when we were cuddling one night before bed. He had to have cooches, and then ten hearts traced around his face and one "boop" on the nose at the end, haha. Now Beckham and Anderson also like to do that.
- He loves Sonic right now.
- He LOVES to build LEGO's, he got some really big sets for his birthday, a fire truck and station, and a big mech, and he built both of them almost entirely by himself!
- He has been doing tumbling for about 8 months now, and even though he tells me he doesn't like it, I think he actually does. haha.
- He loves to help me cook!! He will get up on the counter next to me and help put different ingredients in and mix. He really loves it.
- He has really fought me on eating vegetables of any sort for the last year or two. He doesn't mind carrots, cucumbers, peas, or sweet potatoes, but everything else he thinks is so gross. I think he's been doing better in the last few months, though. Some of his favorite foods are Annies noodles, peanut butter honey and peanut butter with grape jelly sandwiches, waffles or french toast, pepperoni pizza (he picks all the veggies off veggie pizza), he also really enjoys spaghetti and lasagna. He LOVES fruit! Blueberries, strawberries, grapes, oranges, apples, bananas, and watermelon. He also likes avocado (surprisingly, haha), and likes to eat raw slices with dinner.
- When his hair starts getting in his eyes he will tell me that he needs a haircut, and will not let me forget.
