Family Update

Last Friday we took our family up the Ogden/Layton area for a family trip. We invited Mom and Dad along and we all shared a *very* small two bedroom suite at a Marriott, it was interesting trying to fit everyone in comfortably, haha. We made it work. The next morning we got up and packed up snacks and lunch and headed to Lagoon for the day. I was sooo anxious about taking all the kids there, but we actually had a really fun time! Brianna met us at the hotel and she joined us for the entire day. Jeremy, Bridger, Beckham, and Grandpa left together for the first half of our time there and went on the "big" person rides. Mom and I took Roz, Ander, and Benson on all the kiddie rides. They LOVED the rides. The first ride Roslyn and Ander rode was Bulgy the Whale and when it ended Roslyn cried (actually, screamed). Benson joined us after he got past his fears and him and Ander rode a bunch (some with Grandma) together and had a blast. Roslyn was able to ride a few with me, and she went on the little car ride with Beckham and loved it. By that time everyone needed a break and it was wwwwaaaaayyyyy past nap time and Roslyn was getting super grumpy, so we walked around Pioneer Town for awhile until Roz fell asleep in the stroller, and then headed back to get snacks at our table at the Bridger Pavilion (Bridger was positive it was named after him, haha). Beckham was ready by that time to hang out with the younger kids, he didn't like the big rides, so he went on a few with Benson. After everyone met up around 4 PM, we headed back over to Pioneer Town and took an old western photo featuring us as saloon girls and outlaws. We all had a fun time getting dressed up, the guys and boys all got to wear western shirts, bullets, guns, and cowboy hats (Benson would have nothing to do with the costumes OR the picture, so after much bribery and coercion we finally just forced him to sit with us in the picture and took it really quick, haha). Roslyn was soooo happy to put her little dress on! It had little frilly drop-sleeves with a corset look to the front and she was dancing in front of the mirror and moving her little shoulders up and down, she just absolutely loved it, we were all laughing because she is so cute. We finally all got ready and set up and the pictures actually turned out really good! So, that was super fun. After that we headed back over to the picnic table and had a tasty dinner that Mom had pre-prepared in the crockpot and we'd left warming all day, then Mom offered to take the three little ones back to the room and get them to bed so that I could go have some time to ride rides. She did great with the kids and had them all to bed, I'm so grateful for her. I was able to stay and ride some roller coaster with Brianna, Jeremy, and Bridger, and Grandpa took Beckham on some rides he was more comfortable on. It was SO fun to experience riding a roller coaster with Bridger for his first time, we were all screaming and had such a fun time. We went on one called the Cannibal and, holy cow, that one was crazy.

We ended up being able to ride three roller coasters before the park was going to close, so we quickly got in line to ride the Ferris wheel to end the night. Beckham and Grandpa joined us after we convinced Beckham that it was just a calm, nice ride. So we all get in line and wait, a light breeze is blowing, but otherwise it's a nice evening. Beckham was super nervous, so when we got on he basically put his face in my lap. They closed the door to our "basket" and after a few other baskets were filled the Ferris wheel started turning again and we started going up. About halfway up the wind started blowing harder, and then at the very top (our basket was at the PEAK) the wind was gusting so hard that when Brianna and I were laughing spit was sliding out of our mouths. It was absolutely insane. I was terrified and clutching the wheel around the pole to have a sense of grounded-ness. Beckham was terrified with his face in my lap. Jeremy was terrified and holding onto the pole thing in the middle. Brianna and Dad were just laughing and laughing, and Bridger was commenting on every inappropriately-timed anxiety-inducing thing a person could ("If you put your arm out there it will get snapped off." And, gesturing to the wheel around the pole that turns the basket, "look at that rust, it's probably going to fall off." And then he points to another spot of rust, "there's rust up there around that bolt that it twists around so it could fall off there, too." And, "that door isn't very strong.") It seemed like they forgot us up there, it had to have been at least five minutes and the wind was blowing SO hard. I had to hold onto my phone so it wouldn't leave my hands. I couldn't believe it. Dad turned the basket so he could, "get a different view," and Beckham, Jeremy, and I were like NOO! Then Dad and Brianna continued laughing. And then started discussing that if we died at least we'd all go together, except Mom and the three little ones, they'd be on their own-that just was not helpful. It was so crazy. Poor Beckham, I don't know if he will ever go on another Ferris wheel, haha. Afterward, like a week after, Bridger suggested that the Ferris Wheel should actually be called "The Wheel of Terror," and he admitted that he was a little afraid. They FINALLY started it turning again and we all got off, and so did everybody else, haha. They'd left us up there while they decided if they should keep it running or not, go figure. :l

After we got off, the park was supposed to close in 15 minutes, but there were some rides still running and the lines were practically nonexistent. Beckham wanted us to go on a few with him (and after the Ferris Wheel experience we felt like we should, haha), so we went on the Tilt-A-Whirl, Space Scrambler and one other, then, right as we were about to leave Bridger saw a ride and ran up to it and they said they would let us on before they closed it, so we all ran up but Beckham was freaking out because he didn't want to go on a roller coaster (it was like a medium-ish/kid-ish one), so Jeremy picked him up (as he's crying) and we all get in while he is freaking out, haha. The ride started and then he had a fun time! Haha. After that the park closed and we had to leave, so we headed back to our hotel room.

The next day we headed to the condo we rented in Wolf Creek and it was so much bigger and so nice! On Monday we had French toast with strawberries and blueberries, and then we all got ready to go to SeaQuest, which was SO MUCH fun! The kids loved it! Ander and Beckham touched the inside of a tortoise shell while it was sleeping, Roz pet some "silkies" (little chickens), and Beckham put his hand in the water and all these little fish were gently "biting" them, it feels like little kisses, I guess. Anyway, Ander was more enthralled with the sink, the filter in the little pool, and playing with the marbles in the bottom. Benson wouldn't put his hand in at all, and Roz put her tiny hand in and splashed around, haha. After some hesitation, Bridger put his hand in and had fun with it, too. So, Bridger, Beckham, Jeremy, and Grandpa all did that and had fun with it. Then, Grandpa and Beckham touched some sting rays in a huge pool. It was pretty cool. After we finished there we all went out for lunch and then we all went to the original Farr's store to get ice cream. It was such a fun day and I'm so grateful we could go.

We were supposed to leave Tuesday morning, and Roslyn woke up, nursed, and then threw up and acted like she didn't feel good. Jeremy and Dad gave her a blessing and it helped so much, she only threw up one more time on the way home and I was able to catch it in a ziplock so there was no mess. We sent Jeremy, Grandpa, and Bridger to Hill AFB to do some shopping for uniforms for Jeremy and then they headed home after.

Overall, we had a really nice family trip and I'm so glad we made the time to go.

Roslyn update:

  • She is talking SO good! She has been saying 3 word sentences at 20 months. "No go bed!" Haha. She also says "Oh no!" All the time, in this cute, tiny, girly little voice. It's adorable. She also makes the sign for more with her fingertips together and says "more," when she needs more. She loves to point out clocks and other things she recognizes from our bedtime stories.
  • She loves to throw her arms up and say "Yay!!"
  • She says "Bye" in this cute little sing-song girly voice and waves all cute. It's adorable.
  • She loves to read books at night, especially touch-and-feel books. She loves little chicks in her books.
  • Her hair is getting longer and it gets in her eyes now and it bothers her, she wipes it back with her little hands and it goes right back into her eyes, so as soon as we get up I put her hair up into a tiny bun on top and brush out her curls. She likes it. :)
  • Her 2T pajamas are almost too small! But she is still fitting into her 18-24 month clothes just fine.
  • She loves to put her jewelry on, when I say "let's get your jewelry!" She follows me with her little wrist out to put her bracelets on and she loves them. She does the same thing when I say "let's do your hair!" She follows me to the bathroom and we do her hair and put a bow in and she smiles in the mirror and touches her hair, it's so cute.
  • She is for sure a momma's girl right now. She gives me kisses and has me kiss her "baby" (her fawn), she likes lots of quick kisses in a row, haha. She always wants me to hold and cuddle her throughout the day. It's so sweet.
  • In the mornings when she wakes up we put her in our bed and she says, "milk! Milk!" And lays down next to me to nurse. One morning, she finished nursing and I asked her, "is that yummy?" She nodded her head all cute and said "nummy!" Then she crawled over and said "Daddy!" To greet Jeremy for the day. It was so sweet, my heart melted.
  • She has been sleeping through the night more often lately, but occasionally still wakes up between 12-3 to nurse. She also wakes up at like 5 AM sometimes. She goes to bed at 7 PM and still takes a nap between 12:30-3 everyday.
  • She loves her fawn stuffed animal, she sleeps with it for naps and bed and likes to carry it around the house.
  • She still loves music and dancing! While we drink our breakfast smoothie every morning I turn music on and she dances while she drinks hers.
  • She nurses in the morning when she wakes up, she nurses before her nap, she nurses before bed, and sometimes she nurses once in the night.
  • She has been very attached to me lately, she sometimes cries if I leave the room, but usually it's just that when I come back in the room, or pick her up from nursery, or she's been busy playing and then sees me, she runs to me saying, "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" And throws her little arms around my neck and presses her cheek to mine, then she puts her tiny hands on my cheeks and gives me kisses and snuggles. It warms my entire heart and soul.

Today was Mother's Day, we woke up to a very busy and crazy morning getting ready (and being late) for church! After church Mom and I took some treats around to the sisters we minister to and then came home and Beckham and Benson made macaroni & cheese for me for lunch and Bridger made french fries with fry sauce, haha. They are so cute. Jeremy and Grandpa helped supervise all the cooking and the kids were so happy to be able to do these nice things for me. Benson and Bridger both drew pictures for me and they all brought home a treat from church for me that they promptly asked for, haha. Then, tonight, Dad and Jeremy grilled vegetables and made homemade alfredo sauce with garlic bread for dinner for myself, Mom, Brianna, and Kathie. It was absolutely delicious!! Bridger acted as our waiter and announced when dinner was ready and we were so happy to see how he'd decorated and prepared the porch outside! He turned the lights on that Grandpa had gotten put up and had classical music playing, table cloths and plants set out on the tables, and the weather was perfect. It was really beautiful and I felt so loved and appreciated by my family. The kids were so calm during dinner and it was just really, really nice. My heart is full of gratitude for all of them. Mom made a carrot cake last night and so we had that for dessert, it was delicious! Then we exchanged gifts, Mom gave me a couple of really cute pots for my new plants, and Jeremy got me some new slippers. Jeremy also took me on a date yesterday to buy pots for more of my plants and I loved it! He helped choose out a few pots with me and I love that he cared and that I have pots that he chose out for me now too, we also stopped and got smoothies for everyone.

This afternoon I laid down with Ander before his nap to cuddle, he was really tired so he settled down really quick and we just laid there on his bed quietly together. Then, I turned my head to look at him at the same time he did the same to me and I whispered, "I love you." Then he whispered back, "I yuv you." And it was so sweet.
