Halloween

First of all, I am so proud of myself for not procrastinating buying costumes this year!! We were ready EARLY. Haha. This year Halloween was so much better than last year! The weather was PERFECT. There were a bunch of trick or treaters out, so the streets were busy and full and people were just hanging out on their porches so we got to say hi to friends while we walked around. The kids got SO. MUCH. CANDY. Haha. I made homemade pizza in the shape of little pumpkins that we made for dinner, which was super yummy. Bridger hung out with Allyana (Tyler walked them around), and they didn't get home until almost nine! They went on a hayride around base and went to a couple extra neighborhoods. We love the Knudsen's, they are such an amazing family!

We carved pumpkins and decorated cookies earlier in the week, too. I made a new sugar cookie recipe that was super yummy. We had a lot of fun and I'm grateful we could enjoy it as a family. :)

Chaplain Conference & Hurricane Trip

This year Grandma and Grandpa Brown met us in Eden (about an hour from SLC), and stayed at a condo with us and watched the kids while we went to Chaplain Conference. I love that we've been able to do this and we'll enjoy it while we are close enough to drive! We celebrated Roslyn and Jeremy's birthday while we were there, and watched conference, too!

Chaplain Conference was so good, we really enjoyed a lot of the speakers and getting to catch up with other chaplains and spouses. We also got to hear Elder Eyring speak the last day, he basically tossed his talk out that he'd written and was just real with us. He shared stories and things he's learned throughout his life and the Spirit was really strong, I loved it so much. We were able to shake his hand after, and it was really special. I am grateful.

We headed down to Hurricane the next day and we soaked up all the sunshine we could get! We celebrated Jeremy's birthday again, and roasted banana boat desserts with the kids over the fire, which they loved. The kids played with their cousins almost constantly and were up late almost every night, haha. Jeremy and I went mountain biking a couple of times and I got to get my teeth cleaned and a haircut! Yay! Haha.

Here are some pics:

This ride was in Red Cliffs, it's a good one!

Roz's second party at the condo with Grandma & Grandpa, Bri and Alek joined us, too!

We find her babies tucked in like this all the time, it's so sweet. Grandma & Grandpa bought the kids stuffed animal toys and she got this little pink unicorn.

President Eyring spoke on the last day of Chaplain Conference, it was sooo good. He was so genuine, the spirit was strong. I'll never forget shaking his hand and looking into his eyes, the love is so strong around him.

Biggest, best sandwiches ever at this place in Lehi on the way down. Everyone loved them!

Celebrating Jeremy's birthday in Hurricane!

Found Rozzie going potty with her bunny, she does the cutest things. Adorable.

Second ride of our trip! We did a loop on Gooseberry Mesa. Absolutely beautiful views!! I took a moment to mindfully soak in the sunshine and warmth so that I can think about it during the bitter cold winter here in Montana. It has actually helped. :)

Love him.

Roslyn is THREE!!

Our sweet baby girl is three!!

We love her forever and are so grateful for her. She is just what our family needed to be complete and she came right when she needed to and I will be forever grateful for that. Rozzie is happy, cheerful, sweet, sensitive, tough, loving, sassy, and so SO girly. Maybe it's because we have four boys before our girl so it's emphasized, but her femininity is obvious and adorable and so natural to her. I personally think she's just a very girly girl. She knows how to use her hips, she's always swinging them everywhere, she stands on her tip toe and pops her foot when she takes a sip of water, she power walks with her arms and hips swinging, she loves to wear jewelry and play with my necklaces and earrings. She loves to sit in the bathroom with me when I'm getting ready and put on my makeup and do her hair with me, and when we finish her high, beautiful, curly ponytails we sing the "whip it" song while she whips her ponytail around so happy. She also loves pink and wearing dresses and cute outfits and shoes.
She loves her "babies," her stuffed animals that she's gotten over the last three years. Her fawn (aka "Fuzzy") was her favorite as a baby, and then she got her white bunny for Easter about a year and a half ago and that soon became her very favorite and I think it still holds that spot. Before bed every night lately she'll dig through her baby cradle with all her babies in it and choose one or two to sleep with. It's quite a big decision for her and takes a bit sometimes, haha. But every night and every nap time and even during the day she's cuddling her babies. She pushes them in her tiny stroller, feeds them in her baby high chair, and puts them in her tiny backpack. She sets her bunny up on the table with her while she eats and she even sets it on the side of the tub with her while she goes pee, haha.
On that note, she's completely potty trained!! We introduced her to the potty young, just like our other kids, but she wouldn't use it for the longest time (she'd sit on it, but not even a tinkle would come out). Finally about eight months ago, she'd occasionally use it when we encouraged it before shower time for fun, but that's it. Then, about five months ago I started seeing signs that she was ready and we were down to our last few diapers. I honestly dreaded potty training for the fifth time and had to force myself to start, but I didn't want to buy more diapers. Honestly, though, she caught on SO fast. We bought her some potty training, quilted, panties that are super cute and she loves them so much (they look SO cute on her). She had some accidents here and there, but that's totally normal and I consider her learning to go on the potty extremely quick. But at one point she didn't want to use the potty anymore, so I started giving her one chocolate chip after she went pee and that did the trick. And a few weeks in she was afraid to poop on the potty and so I bought these Hatchimal unicorns and she got an egg to open every time she pooped on the potty, she loved the baby unicorns and it helped a lot. We got it figured out! She was even dry during the night, so we put her in panties and she only had a couple accidents before she started waking up in the night to ask to go pee. She was even fine going out in panties within a week or two of first potty training. It's amazing. So we didn't ever buy more diapers. We have two diapers left and never had to use them. I'm so proud of her.

She loves to put her babies in her grocery cart, haha.

Cuddling her baby so sweet. :)

Helping put away groceries.

Her and Ander got into a huge mess with some packing foam.

Cute, winter church outfit. :)

Those lips and those adorable piggy buns!

Those curls!

Left: Me. Right: Rozzie. Both around 2 years. :)

Her adorable Halloween costume!

She loves her bouncy unicorn and will put it on the bench and eat on it, haha.

She was pretending to read a book to me. :)

This was her birthday tutu from her donut party last year, she wears it ALL the time!

She always eats best when Daddy sits with her, that's how it's always been, haha.

Sweet baby sleep.

She chased these little chicks up the ramp, she wanted to hold one so bad, haha.

Makeup time before church!

Her curls!! I seriously can take her hair straight out of a ponytail and it looks like this. Beautiful.

Painted nails! :)

Movie time. :)

First time bowling. :)

She wore her winter beanie all winter long, haha.

Helping me cook. :)

Grandma painting her nails. :)

She loves to play with her doll house with Daddy, Ander usually joins in too and sometimes the other boys. :)

Beautiful, curly, bouncy ponytail. :)

Babies!

Hanging out with Grandpa Brown. :)

  • Her nicknames: Rozzie and Roz (most of the time). Also, Rozzle Pop, Beauty, Peach, and Muffin. Bridger still calls her Goog with his little baby voice sometimes, haha.
  • She wears 2T-3T now.
  • She started talking SO early. She speaks really well and clear and her vocabulary is huge. She knows her colors and shapes. She loves to read books at night before bed, and she also loves to sit and watch Ander do his Upstart preschool.
  • Her hair is turning from really light blonde to a darker blonde as she's getting older.
  • Her favorite foods are all berries, watermelon, grapes, apples slices, cherries, and bananas. She also loves pb&honey, pizza, baked chicken, sweet potatoes, chocolate almond yogurt, toast, pancakes and waffles, spaghetti, and cucumbers. She'll sometimes eat carrot sticks and steamed broccoli and cauliflower, but not always. She's honestly not very picky, it's more if she's in a mood to eat or not. She also loves the protein balls I keep in the fridge for snack every afternoon.
  • She loves to sing and we hear her singing throughout the day as she plays, just so happy and sweet.
  • She loves to play with Anderson nowadays, they've been getting along and are at a sweet spot with their ages. They are close, only like 19 months apart, so right now Ander is 4 and Roz is 3 and their imaginations are SO FUN. I love to listen to them play, it's funny and cute. I love it. I often find them playing Baby Shark or other silly songs on the Echo's upstairs in the bedrooms and dancing, haha. She loves to play with the play kitchen and play food, trains, her doll house, trains, and even Hot Wheels and LEGO's if her brothers and playing with them.
  • She goes to bed around 7:30 and sleep until between 5:30-6:30 AM. She goes pee before bed and usually doesn't need to go again until morning. When she wakes up she goes pee and then loves to get in our bed and nurse and cuddle and watch a show until she hears the other kids get up at 7, then she races out to join them downstairs.
  • She loves nursing. I am so grateful I've been able to nurse her as long I have, and it's been really hard emotionally to start weaning her, but I know it's time. Several months ago we stopped nursing before naps, and she fussed about it everyday for weeks. When she finally adjusted to that for a bit, I dropped the morning nurse, that was only about two weeks ago and this morning was the first time she didn't cry, just whined a little and then was happy again. So right now, she's only nursing before bed time. And every night I mindfully soak it up, she's our last baby, the last one I'll nurse. I've always loved nursing every one of my babies and it's one of the things I'll miss the most about being a mom with young kids. Let me go cry.
  • She started her first dance class at the beginning of September, she was so happy to start! We got her a beautiful little leotard, pink tights, and shoes, and even a tiny backpack to keep her things. The first day of class she was really reserved (like she usually is in new situations, even nursery every week until she warms up), so I just joined class with her. Little by little, she warmed up, and I did everything with her. Stretching, the warmup, skipping and galloping around the room, the bar, all of it. I held her hand and she knew it was okay and started doing it with me. Next class I did half of class with her, then stepped back and she was doing great, and now when we go to class she goes all on her own and I sit at the side and watch and clap and encourage her when she looks to me for reassurance. Her teacher, Miss Linda, is so sweet and so good with the two tiny girls in her class. They do ballet, and tap (which Roslyn LOVES, her tiny tap heels are so cute!), they use the bar, and at the end they pull out the tumbling mats. She loves dance class so much. It's been really special to do this with her, because dance was such a big part of my life as a kid and teenager, I always loved it and I've loved being able to share that with my own daughter. Here I go crying again.

  • At bedtime she loves to cuddle cheek to cheek, nose to nose, snuggled so tight. She's so sweet. One time I took out a breath and said "Rozzie..." with a big sigh, and then she did it saying "Mommy..." and it was so sweet I almost cried. Now we do that all the time, taking turns over and over again. I give her a nose rub and a kiss, then I have to kiss and nose rub her baby, then give her another kiss before I say goodnight. I also find her little babies tucked in to our bed, or her own bed all the time and it's so sweet. She also has started saying, "I'm the mommy and you're the baby." Then she'll push my head down on her pillow and start scratching my back so gentle while she whispers to me. She'll give me her baby to snuggle and then after a few minutes she'll give me the cutest tiny kiss on the cheek, say, "Goodnight, baby," and pretend like she's leaving and go sit in the rocking chair. So sweet.
  • She loves to jump on the trampoline with her brothers, she's getting much more confident now. When Daddy gets on, she likes for him to hold her, but I've noticed recently she still jumps while she sticks to the edges. I don't blame her! Tiny girl jumping with dad and her four brothers, haha. She loves to tumble and play rough with them and the boys always get in trouble for it, but I know she encourages it. Little stinker.

For her birthday this year she told me she wanted a unicorn party, and she also wants to be a unicorn for Halloween, so I bought a unicorn tutu with a braided tail on it and a headband on Etsy and she gets to wear it for both! We celebrated twice, once on her actual birthday and again on Dad's birthday over conference weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Brown and Brianna and Alek.
