I've decided on a plan to track Bridgers growth, I'm pretty happy about it. I bought different colors of fabric for him to lay on for his pictures every month, then I'm going to take that fabric after twelve months and make it into a quilt to celebrate his first year. :) Hopefully this little plan works and his quilt turns out cute. Anyway, here are his one month and two month pictures...
Look at that big adorable grin. :)
Last night we went over to my friend Joslyn's house for dinner, it was amazing...she's such a great cook. But I just have to write about how the day went before dinner. Jeremy woke up and felt gross so he called in sick to work, he had a sore throat, so I thought we could just relax at home. nope. Being my reasonable self (ha) I decided I wanted to make a homemade peach pie to bring for dessert that night, but I didn't have lard, I only had crisco so I tried it anyway. Let's just say it didn't turn out all that great, and my kitchen was a complete disaster, and to polish it off, Bridger didn't want to sleep AT ALL. So I was mad and threw that crust away. I was so upset and we were gettin down to the wire (this was at 2 and dinner was at 7:30), so Jeremy said he would run to the store to get lard so I could make it right to try and make me happy. I tried to clean up the kitchen to get ready for the next pie, but the only recipe I had for pie crust was for a batch of 20 crusts! and guess what. Me being my reasonable self (not) again decided we could do it. So Jeremy get's back with three pounds of lard and I add the five pounds of flour and we start on our crusts. I couldn't even knead it all together because there was so so much, Jeremy had to do it and it took him an hour! Holy moly. I was starting to freak out because we had only an hour until we were supposed to be at dinner and I didn't even have the pie in the oven, Jeremy was covered in flour from his knees to his face, I had crazy air-dryed shower hair (I looked way cute), and neither of us were dressed for dinner. And then guess what, Bridger started the "crazy cry." We call it that because it's super loud and he won't stop until he's ready, so as I finished putting the pie together, Jeremy took him upstairs to our bathroom and turned the hairdryer on...Bridger passed out almost immediately. As I was putting the pie in the oven, I realized that I didn't have tinfoil to cover the crust and then I was even more frustrated! There was nothing I could do about it so I went and got ready. We were like twenty minutes late to dinner but it was a blast and a very nice stress reliever...plus, my pie turned out delicious even though the crust was a little on the dark side. :) I should've taken a picture of it but all that's left now is a dirty pie pan. :) If anyone wants the recipe for pie crusts let me know, I got this from my mom and it's impossible to handle the dough too much, seriously, so it doesn't get tough or fall apart. It's because it's made with lard instead of crisco, plus, you can freeze it for later (that's why I had a recipe for 20 crusts btw, I'm not just crazy).
p.s. lard is such a gross word. I can't believe it makes such awesome pie crusts.
