Progress... :)

Here is another little update on our house with some pictures of what it looks like as of today. :) We went over this morning and helped pack up the rest of the bedrooms with the help of the mitigation company, they also tore out all the carpet and hauled it down to the basement for us to possibly use for later (if we ever want to finish a room down there, since the carpet is perfectly fine). The tile in the entryway and kitchen was laid a couple days ago, and they just finished the grout today! We really love how it turned out. We ordered carpet yesterday, it takes about seven days to get here, but we were told it should be in the house by next Thursday. I hope! :)

Here are some pictures, I wanted to get them before the tile was laid and the walls were fixed, but I didn't get a chance...

Here is the view from the front door. :) All the baseboards are still gone, as well as the molding around the doorways, it all still needs to be painted too.

This is our living room.

And our master...

Our kitchen, the tile is still covered in this grey layer of stuff from putting the grout in, but this is our work in progress. :)

Pretty crazy, huh? Our little house feels like a shell right now! We've been working with some awesome people, though, and we are so grateful. Along with that, so far, our insurance has been SO awesome, which has really surprised me. We just had a linoleum floor in our kitchen before and expected them to give us around $4 sq. ft. to replace it, we realized that since we chose tile we would be paying out of pocket for about half of it since it's more expensive...instead, they gave us $7.78 sq. ft, which is almost double and almost took care of putting in tile altogether! I almost cried. They also gave us an awesome price on our carpet. We are just really grateful.

Today we found a small (ok, not so small) problem. We were told that they were going to try to match the upper cabinets so we could keep them, if they couldn't find a match we would be getting all new cabinets...well, the cabinets that we were told would "match" showed up today and as soon as I took the cardboard off the front I knew it wasn't the same. The cabinet on the right in the picture below is the new one, the left cupboard door is what is already in our kitchen...ours are more honey colored/yellow, these cabinets have more orange/brown in them. We called the contractor and he told us that ours had probably just yellowed over time and that these ones would too.

Um...no.

Anyway...we should know by Monday what the options are, or what will be happening with that.

Left is what we have-Right is the new

Hopefully we can live in our house again in a couple of weeks, this cabinet issue might make it take longer, we aren't sure...but hopefully we can get it worked out fast! :)
